I have a confession to make. I’ve been having an affair for the last couple of months with another blog.

I don’t write a lot about my job here because it’s usually not relevant to Cleveland. However, a recent project has kept me from writing here as often as I’d like, and it’s time to come clean. 

One of my favorite things about joining PR Newswire’s media relations team last year has been helping journalists and bloggers with our media site PR Newswire for Journalists. I love helping people get the most out of the site because I use it myself to stay updated on Cleveland-area news.

I love it even more now that the site’s gone through a huge update. Part of that included my team launching a new blog called Beyond Bylines.

The culprit for my absence

Every day Vicky, Christine, Brett and I get to write something new about media trends, blogs we love, and the ever-changing news industry.  

Although managing this is a thing I’ve wanted to do for a while and I’ve been enjoying the heck out of it, it’s also zapped my energy for recreational writing. Needless to say, I have a new-found respect for bloggers who post daily.

The Beyond Bylines team

Even before I moved into my media relations manager role, I was a longtime user and advocate of PR Newswire for Journalists. When I first started blogging a few years ago, I immediately set up a newsfeed to get announcements from TourismOhio, Cedar Fair, and other local organizations.

I know there are probably other bloggers who would enjoy some of the site’s features but don’t consider themselves a journalist. To those people, I’d say don’t let the name of the site dissuade you. Everything on the site is free and available to bloggers, whether you’re:

• looking to connect with more brands for product reviews…
• want to be the first to receive media alerts on topics and companies that interest you…
• or would like to be included in one of our weekly blog profiles like this one about Nadine at Blog – the New Black.
